Ways to Learn With Shep

BBO_IAC Open Mentoring Game

Shelagh hosts an open mentoring game each Monday at 1300 EDT. Members of the Intermediate Advanced Club are invited to sit in. We will bid play and discuss randomly dealt hands. For membership in the BBO_IAC go to BBO_IAC

Shep’s Bridge Club Mentoring Game

Students are invited to watch and/or take turns playing in a mentoring game lasting about 90 minutes. After each hand is played, shep offers an analysis of the bidding, play and defense.

Games will start the week of May 3 every Tuesday at 1600 EDT and every Thursday at 1900 EDT.

Intermediate Courses

Major Suit Openers in 2/1 – Wednesday 2000 EDT

The Opening Lead and Basic Defensive Strategies – Monday 1100 EDT

These two courses are for intermediate players wanting to improve. They are 6-8 sessions, depending on the group.

During the lessons, Shep's chat to the group is public, but students' questions and answers to Shep are sent privately. Shep will often send comments privately to individual students, as well as public comments. To each student, it should appear as if he is the only student in the room. Please contact Shep if you are interested in discussing participation in the group course or individual study sessions.

Lebensohl

This is an 8-lesson course covering the use of Lebensohl after our 1NT opener, opener’s reverse, after their weak 2 opener, and other competitive situations. A new session will begin Summer, 2010

Private Bidding Practice

Private Bidding and Play Practice

One or two students can work on bidding at the Partnership Bidding Practice room. Hands can be constrained to practice 1NT openers, Major or Minor suit openers, or almost any other part of uncontested bidding. One or two students can also work on bidding and play at shep’s bridge club, playing against Shep or the GIBs, with discussion during and after the hand.

Tournament Training Games

Play a tournament with Shep. During the online tourney, there is little bridge discussion apart from quick system clarifications. After the game, Shelagh will email an analysis of the game answering the student’s questions.

Membership at Shep's Bridge Club

Those who take any sort of lesson from Shep will be given membership in Shep's Bridge Club. They can play or kibitz in the club as long as our rules are respected. Most games at the private club or partnership bidding table welcome kibitzers.

Please email shep if you want to register for any of the classes.
