Beginner Intermediate Lounge Tournament
Beginner and Intermediate players are invited to a 5-board tournament at 11:30am EST on Wednesdays.
After the play, all meet at the BIL where Shep plays and discusses the hands. All are welcome
to the discussion whether they play the tourney or not, as long as they are members of the Beginner
Intermediate Lounge. For membership in the BIL go to
Beginner Intermediate Lounge
The tournament and discussion are free of charge.
Group Mentoring Games
A group of 3 or 4 students can play random hands, with questions and comments any time and an
analysis after each hand. Efforts are made to group students by ability and system.
There are currently two 2/1 games running and they are full. There is some interest in starting a
SAYC game, so if you are interested, please let Shep know. Others could be arranged if there is
sufficient interest.
Intermediate Courses
Declarer Play Class: 4PM EST Monday. starting September 15, 2008
Defense Class: 11AM EST Friday, starting September 19, 2008
2/1 Class: 7PM EST Wednesday, starting September 17, 2008
These courses are for intermediate players wanting to improve. The classes consist of 20-30 sessions,
depending on the group. Please contact Shep if you are interested in discussing participation
in the group course or individual study sessions.
Private Bidding Practice
Private Bidding and Play Practice
One or two students can work on bidding at the Partnership Bidding Practice room.
Hands can be constrained to practice 1NT openers, Major or Minor suit openers, or almost
any other part of uncontested bidding. One or two students can also work on bidding and
play at Shep's Bridge Club, playing against Shep or the GIBs, with discussion during and after
the hand. Contact Shep to arrange practice sessions with one or two players.
Self Designed Courses
Are you trying to learn from a text? Shep will read along with you and answer your questions.
One way that works well is for you to read ahead, send her your questions, and she will prepare
answers, go through them with you at BBO and discuss. Contact Shep to arrange Self Designed
Study courses.
Tournament Training Games
During the online tourney, there is little bridge discussion apart from quick system
clarifications. After the game, Shep will email an analysis of the game answering the student's
questions. Contact Shep to arrange for playing and subsequent analysis.
Membership at Shep's Bridge Club
Those who take any sort of lesson from Shep will be given membership in Shep's Bridge Club.
They can play or kibitz in the club as long as our rules are respected. Most games at the private
club or partnership bidding table welcome kibitzers.
Please email shep if you want to register for any of the classes.
