6.8 Weak Two Bids

In general our opening weak two bids are undisciplined, except when vulnerable, or at any vulnerability in second chair.

Disciplined means no outside 4-card major (Aces and Kings are OK), and at least 3 of the top 5 cards with a six-card suit. AJ10xxx is the minimum suit, AKxxxx or AQxxxx do not need the Jack or ten.

When undisciplined weak two bids are allowed, any six card suit with 5-10 HCP is to be considered. Five card suits need to be chunky, AQ109x, KQ109x, AJ1098 are ideal… note the intermediate cards. 5-3-3-2 is not acceptable except in third seat at favourable vulnerability.
