Welcome to BridgeMentor.com, Shelagh Paulsson's web site. Shelagh lives in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada (across the river from Ottawa). She has been a member of the ACBL since 1970 and has represented Canada at WBF events in New Orleans, Miami, Corpus Christi, Salsomaggiore, Albuquerque, Bermuda, and Istanbul. Since 1994, Shelagh has been a Member of the ACBL Good Will Committee. For four years, she held a weekly "Ask Shelagh" session and taught private lessons at the Kate Buckman Bridge Studio in Toronto. In April, 1996, Shelagh joined OKBridge, and was soon volunteering with the Fifth Chair Foundation, teaching at novice bidding practice sessions and answering questions e-mailed from the "Ask Anything" link on the Fifth Chair web site. Since September, 2001, Shelagh has taught primarily at Bridge Base Online, a site designed for use by teachers and students of the game we all love. You can download the BBO software free of charge, at Bridge Base. The system notes here are for Shep's 2/1. This is a system designed for advancing players. The goal was to make it as consistent as possible, and with relatively few artificial gadgets for the depth of understanding. Some parts of the notes are useful no matter what system you play, those on tactics, competitive bidding, and defense to conventions. The notes are always under construction, and usually have some typos embedded! If you spot an error, please send an email to Shep. Shelagh's regular partner is Elizabeth Jacob of Toronto. "Shep and Eliza" often play tournaments at Bridge Base Online on Friday and Saturday eveings. They play Shep's 2/1 and to a large extent these are their working system notes. |
